We'll I have to admit that I was worried about Saab quality when I first bought mine. I always admired Saab, but was told of Saab stories. I have had my 00 Viggen for a while now and it has 15K miles on it. The only problems I have had was the fuel tank lid was not perfectly aligned and did not lock when the car was locked. The dealer fixed it no problem.
I had a 96 BMW 328is prior to the Saab and put 50K miles on it and had more problems. The antennae (which is part of the rear-defrost) broke three times! The remotes were flaky, the battery went after just two years (one month after this wasn't covered by warranty) and left me stranded 150 miles away from the nearest BMW dealer. I also had a few problems with the power windows. This BMW was no lemon and worked great other than what I mentioned. I have a friend that drives a ML430 that has been a nightmare.
My point is -- I would not isolate Saab as a brand with poor build quality. Every car has their quirks and some cars are worse than others. Honestly the only car I have ever owned that _never_ needed anything was a Volkswagen. My other car is an Audi and I only hope it fairs as well.
Sorry you have had so many problems -- hopefully you get all the kinks worked out by 2,000 miles.
