You can adjust the mirrors in such a way that there is no more blind spot. Sitting in the drivers seat tilt you head to the left, like you are trying to get water out of your ear. With your head tilted adjust the drivers side mirror until you can just see side of your car, do the same thing to the other side. It takes some time to get used to it but this does work. By the time a car is almost out of the mirror you can see it beside you without turning your head to the side.
