I found that even using a plastic blade to seperate the door handle left marks. However, I also agree that the Dealer/tech should be able to do better.
Try smoothing out the area with something smooth and rounded like a spoon handle or such. You may need to carefully trim the hanging burrs first. I doubt you will get much more than lip service from the Dealer.
