First off Im not sure that safety and convertables with children would be considered together. I dont think I would be comfortable with my kids in a convertable in my town <<flying rocks, sand, uv exposure...giant suvs. A quick trip to the junk yard could change your mind on the concept of child transport in a convertable.
But, I dont know what kind of driving you do, traffic, ....so....sorry if I have crossed the line to the personal.
Also: my kids are 4, and 3. They cant see out the windows in the saab, thus, they hate riding in it and get board much faster. This problem will only worsen when the 4 yr old goes to the lower booster seat, shes gonna hate it. If I had to do it over agian I would have not picked the 900 or og 9-3. But, my choice was based somewhat on Saabs reputation for safety.
2 door with 1 kid is not so bad. But 2 kids is different, my preference is 4 doors. You dont have to bend over so far. Yesterday, my son 3, learned to open his own door. Now he does the hole thing, accept the final snap of the belt. Nice for dad, makes him feel independent.
We dont take the saab on family outings.
Best of luck
KSaab
