Thank you again John. I remember a couple times while cranking I noticed the tach needle didn't move. I don't really know a lot about cars, but for some reason I thought to myself that there must have been some kind of catastrophic failure with the engine if the tach didn't move. There was no rational thought in that conclusion. Probably because I haven't had any unpleasant surprises with this car I thought major mechanical failure when it died and wouldn't start.
The fuel pump...I didn't know if this was worth mentioning earlier, 6-8 months ago I was low on gas, stopped and filled up and when I started the check engine light came on and remained on until I had diagnostics read. Several weeks ago I filled the tank and went home. The next day it ran for 25 minutes while I cleared the windows and then died. filling up was probably a coincidence?
