Oh Great Saabers!

I grew up fixing 99s and C900s in the 80's. I'd done everything but body work on them. At one point my family owned seven at once, everyone drove one.

I've been itching to get a Saab to tinker with now that I'm retired. I love the old cars and never considered a 9-3 except the unnatural lust I had for the Viggen when it came out.

I've found one for sale: 2000 Viggen convertible, 140k, Some slight body damage, top won't go all the way down.

Thanks to this forum I think I can handle the top, with the understanding it could cost upwards of $2k to have someone else do it.

My big red flag is that Carfax says its had 6 owners! Is that a concern? Some only drove it less than 2K miles a year.

Was engine sludge an issue on these?

What else should I be concerned about? The guy is asking about $4,500 for it.
