in fact, I had the pleasure of discussing this stuff with several members of the FAA last month. They seemed more interested in it than I was!
I think that one of the major problems that people are having with the widespread use of this stuff is that there is so much variability in the manufacturing process (moreso than with metals). It's impossible to ensure proper fibre orientation, which translates into tons of experimental scatter when comparing load levels to fatigue cycles. Still, not bad for a material that is still in its infancy.
Wow...I sound like such a geek today. I'll try to smarten up! :-)
