I'll try to find more info about that last article...I can always scan it and send it to you.

Try these:
"Fatigue Mechanisms in Graphite/SiC Composites at Room and High Temperature" in Journal of American Ceramic Society. Authors: Winfred L. Morris, Brian N. Cox, et. al., Vol 77, No. 3, pp. 792-800, 1994
In this one, there is mention of debris, and how it impacts the fatigue properties at different temperatures. We have taken this to imply that there are potentially benificial aspects to this debris accumulation, and our results support that.

Here's another:
"Is Crack Closure Due to Fatigue Loading Causing More Damage in Carbon Fibre Reinforced Epoxy Composites?" in Proceedings of the 4th European Conference on Composites. Authors: M. Wevers, I. Verpoest, P. DeMeester, 1990, pp. 181-188
also...
"Fatigue Damage Development in Carbon Fibre Reinforced Epoxy Composites: Correlation Between the Stiffness Degradation and the Growth of Different Damage Types" in Proceedings of ICCM/ECCM 6th International Conference on Composite Materials and Second European Conference on Composite Materials. Authors M. Wevers, I. Verpoest, E. Aernouldt, P. DeMeester, 1987, Vol 4, pp. 4.114-4.128
these last 2 hint at the compressive nature of these debris particles.

This one is really good (includes SEM work):
"Crack Propagation in Ceramics Under Cyclic Loads" in Journal of Materials Science. Authors: L. Ewart and S. Suresh. Vol 22, 1987, pp. 1173-1192.
In fact, many of our fracture surfaces closely resemble those shown in this paper.

I have more that discuss the generation of these debris particles, if you're interested. Sorry about the incorrect reference format...I hope it's not too annoying!

Cheers, and happy reading!

Mark
