Look, this is getting too elitist. I'm not an art historian or anything but my general impression from the really cool assemblage art (Rauschenburg et al) from the 60s, and I guess this started even earlier as a form of protest against the totalitarian states of the early 20th centry, was that "ART is friggin' ART", as it were, and that the type of craft, skill, and technique required to create the Vermeer, for example, are no longer the ONLY symbolizers of 'good' art. In other words, even found objects made into an assemblage, for example, can become a thing that emits a similar range of emotions as the Vermeer. So, you know, if Taylor's chair designs emit the response that we feel as art then, hell yes!, this is art, too! For me, art is what emits the reponse that makes me call it art. Alas, this is way too subjective for you, but it also allows others to be able define art for themselves, something that your line of thinking totally bars. Just let the sunshine in...
