kittens in the barn at the house where I grew up in in VT. I found that there is a trick to get each kitten 'tamed' if you will. All I had to do was get each kitten to purr in my lap for a few minutes a couple times and they'd start down the path as domestic cats. They would be crazy and unruly and biting and it took more time for the larger ones, but invariably this worked and we were able to give them to good homes. I'm sure your cat is more well mannered and probably younger than these, but I recommend trying to get your kitty to purr and he'll be more bonded to you and less likely to bite off your toe or something.
