My kids and I used to ski (classic) in the Nicolet Nat'l Forest in Northern WI. Enjoyed it a lot and would recommend it. Currently living in the Madison area and have had insufficient snow for 3 winters to do any XC skiing, although the downhill has been great thanks to cold weather and snow making equipment.
