A story on granite countertops.
My buddy had his kitchen demoed, ready for new cabinets and granite tops and backsplash. After the cabinets and countertops are in, Contractor said let the weight settle the house and then I'll put down the tile floor. They put in the dishwasher before the countertops. When they put the tile in they did not go under the dishwasher as it was already installed so they tiled up to the edge of the dishwasher. When the dishwasher failed a few months later, the floortile blocked the dishwasher from sliding out forward, and that counter top wasn't moving. Had to remove a soffit, a floor to ceiling cabinet and two cabinets from the end and then slide the dishwasher out from the side - all at the risk of breaking the unsupported countertop.
Moral: Tile under your dishwasher first, then install dishwasher, the the countertops. I think they could have tiled the whole room first, installed the cabinets, dishwasher and tops, and then grouted the floor later after the whole thing settled to prevent cracks. Check with your tile contractor.
