I also received my MBA from McCombs. I graduated last year and am now in Dallas, but would not mind getting back to Austin.
Some topics not mentioned about Austin include:
Town Lake- It's really a damned river, that runs right thru downtown. If you like to run, bike, people watch, whatever, it is a great place to go. You also have Lake Austin and Lake Travis to the west. I think everyone in Austin has at least one friend with a boat. This is a great way to make it thru the summer comfotably. There are also great restaurants/bars (average foor, great margaritas) that you can either drive to or boat to.
Lastly, few people in Austin are from Austin, so everyone is looking to expand their group of friends. Unlike more established cities where people still hang out with their highschool or college buddies.
I have not met a single person that has lived in Austin and has not liked it. How many cities can you say that about.
