I have lived in Austin since moving from Atlanta in 1991. It is a great place to live. People, climate, government and music define the locale.The population is an eclectic mix of students(Univ. of Texas), politicians, old hippies, techies, musicians and government employees. Most of all, Austin likes being small and unique. The current theme is "Keep Austin Weird" which you are likely to see on t-shirts that the locals wear. Largest significant minority is Hispanic thus the prevalence of great Mexican and tex-mex food restaurants. People are typically easy going and highly educated. The climate is warm to hot. Hot from late May until Thanksgiving and cool in between. The music scene is acclaimed by it's own industry which holds an annual international music conference in Austin called South by Southwest or SXSW. Austin also has a rapidly growing film industry and it's own film festival. The area has a low crime rate, reasonably affordable housing and acceptable traffic for a city it's size. For example, I have a twenty minute work commute to downtown Austin from NW Austin area. An example of the homes in my area, $354K for a 3250 sqft, 4 Bd/4Ba home on a third of an acre lot.

Also, Austin has a great local SAAB dealer/service.....Roger-Beasley SAAB/Porsche . Good luck.
