Period. Dealers KNOW that most people will not walk away from a deal b/c of a doc fee or prep fee or whatever. Customers are tired, worn out, but most importantly, their emotions are starting to take over as they see how real the possibility is that they'll be driving away in their new car.
Hotels that charge a "resort fee" are in the same boat as these dealers. You're on the beach. The only thing to do there is go to the beach. You charge ALL your guests the resort fee...so save us the aggravation and charge it as part of the room rate. Fact of the matter is, they can charge $140 (just as they used to) and charge an addition $15 w/o people throwing their arms up in disgust. Then they tack on $20 for valet parking (even though there is no self-park option and the hotel is remotely located with NO parking options available).
Bottomline...we're getting nickel and dimed because: no one is walking out of a dealership because of a $90 fee, no one is cancelling their hotel reservation because of a $15 resort fee. This is REAL money that these company's make but most importantly its a violation of the initial deal that was struck.
Notice how you find out about these charges when its "too late" to turn back? After you've given a deposit on your car? When you're checking into the hotel?
