Carmel is nice, but it's my own personal pergatory.. If you're into antique shops and small town by the seaside, it's for you. The Monterey aquarium can't be beat, but it doesn't make up a whole week's worth of activities... Add SF to your trip and you'll probably have a week's worth of packed fun! Driving around here is no problem at all as long as you don't do it during rush hour and even then, it's a lot better than 4 years ago and way better than LA traffic...
