Honeymoon logistics... Posted by Clay McNeely [Email] (#497) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Clay McNeely) on Tue, 3 Aug 2004 09:19:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello, everyone. My fiancee' and I are seriously considering a week-long trip to Carmel, California for our honeymoon. The scenery looks absolutely spectacular and the weather seems very favorable. I realize I originally stated that we aren't huge fans of the beach, but I certainly think this could be an exception. It's really the best of both worlds - beach on one side, forest on the other. We have never been to California, but would absolutely love to go.
We would actually fly into San Jose, which is approximately 70 miles from Carmel. Scott, I know you're in San Jose country, so maybe you can give us a little insight on everything. We do have one problem, though. At the time of our honeymoon, I will be 20 and Holly will be 18. Most car rental places won't allow anyone under 21 (25 in a lot of cases) to rent a car. It isn't absolutely imperative to rent a car, as we will be fairly stationary most of the time, but the freedom would be nice.
I am an extremely conservative driver, never at-fault in an accident, and would mainly just like transportation for little drives around Carmel and to/from the airport. What type of options do we have? Would anyone possibly be willing to loan out an extra vehicle for a week (compensation would definitely be considered) or are there rental places in the area that will rent to individuals under 21? Also, what type of public transporation is available in the area? Cost? Any suggestions in this area are more than welcome.
We are looking to stay at the Highlands Inn for the week in Carmel...good choice? Neither of us are familiar with the area, but I think this would be an ideal choice for our honeymoon destination. Are there any restrictions regarding someone under 21 checking into such an establishment?
Is there something that we are unaware of that might put a damper on the honeymoon? Do we need to consider another area? What are the pros and cons? What type of recreation/sight-seeing is available in the area? Seriously, any feedback, questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns that you might have are GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks again to everyone for the advice. If I can elaborate on a certain aspect of our plans or if you need clarification, please let me know. I look forward to whatever response this posting may create. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
