The Power Mac G5 will be much more than 25% faster than an iMac doing most tasks. A recent MacWorld UK test showed that the G5 iMac was about 25% slower than the slowest G5 Power Mac ever made (1.6 GHz single processor). The current single processer Power Mac (1.8 GHz) can not be upgraded to a dual processor version, and it also has a lot of slower technology than the dual processor versions, so don't get it if you can justify the price. Yes, you can get an upgraded video card, from ATi, that's faster than anything Apple offers, so that's another benefit over the non-upgradeable iMac. The widescreen LCDs on the iMacs are beautiful, but I bought a Power Mac G5 and a 19" Sony tube monitor, and I'm more than happy with it.
