a majority of windows video editing software is multi-thread/multi-CPU capable. As for the Mac, the OS is designed to "automatically" use extra CPUs if the sw adheres to specifications. It's not necessary to write software specifically for multi-processors. That's not to say that the sw companies don't do it anyway. :)
