ckpaden,

It's not my intention to be argumentative or confrontational, but I have to address a couple of your points. My 911 is an air-cooled model. It's very hard-edged and will keep up with or pass most cars on the road today. In the hands of a capable driver, it's one of the most rewarding experiences that one can have fully dressed. I don't know if you own a Porsche or have ever spent time driving one, but the air-cooled cars, like our Saabs, are Swiss army knives. On the other hand, the water-cooled cars are scalpels. They cut and dart so quickly, are extremely forgiving of a driver's incorrect inputs (at least comparted to air-cooled models), and are, in my opinion, the most ergonomically correct sports car that you'll ever drive. I have driven most of the water-cooled models, some for extended periods (meaning days at a time) having traded cars with a couple of other Porsche owners.

I'm contemplating handing down my NG900 to one of my kids who's driving my 19 year old C900 and taking my wife's 9-3 for my everyday driver. We pretty much decided on a Porsche Boxster for her. With a winter wheel and tire setup, it'll be fine. We looked at a number of cars, including a new 9-3SS and even though there were faster cars, there's just that same Porsche thing going on with the Boxster as the 911. And don't accuse me of being a snob....we're just middle class working stiffs that have always spent a few more bucks on a car we enjoy driving while allowing us to live sensibly within a certain budget.

One more thing.....go to a Porsche dealer and try to sit in the back of a 911. If you can squeeze back there and buckle up then you should be travelling with a circus.

No hard feelings.

Steve
