Those items listed were the bulk of the repairs. As I mentioned: "3) Saabs are especially kind to DIYers." I do not fall into this category, so I have paid dearly for these repairs through the dealer. I priced out most of these repairs across the area's indie shops and the total price was usually within 10% of the dealer price. With labor rates at over $100 an hour, and mechanics and dealers charging "book" labor hours vs. actual labor hours, its easy to see how quickly this adds up. NOt to mention they make a killing on the parts they sell me too.
I can appreciate the prices that Eeuroparts has, but no indie or dealer will accept that you bring in your own parts. An A/C compressor at a dealer runs over $700. The indie pays the same price because he buys his parts there too (or at least says he does).
I left off a few minor items, but the bulk of them were listed, and I can assure you they add up to $4,000. I saved a bundle by changing the DI myself, and the plugs. Dealer wanted almost $800 for the DI replacement and about $100 for spark plugs. I did both for under $320.
Again, I'm not a DIYer so unfortunately, will pay a premium in getting my Saab repaired. By the way, he's going in tomorrow for a new thermostat. This should be a hoot...
