next to junkers, and not next to SUVs nor pickups suffering from gigantism. Two door car doors are longer and reach further out to ding you. Junkie car drivers care not for theirs; then why yours? Getting stuck blind between two monster jacked up vehicles (at the rugged, hilly super market lot of course) means needing a signal man with a light and flag just to back out. The laziest, most selfish drivers are the ones who try the hardest to park the nearest to the entry to a building from a lot. They are the people most likely to care less for anyone else's vehicle. Those "desireable" spots (at least to those too lazy to walk) are also the places with the highest frequency of use and demand, which means the most opportunities and by the most different drivers to ding you. Walk a little, burn a few calories, and know that your car is less likely to be dinged. It's a daily regimen. My 2001 is parked in lots every day. Only one ding that you have to look to find. The folks at the back of the lot with me are there for the same reason. They respect their cars and those of others. There is a little more than probability going on here; it is also a bit of taking the measure of the likely character of who parks where and why.
Just my 2 cents.
