That would rock for sure.
But for your 12yrs old girl, you don't want Les Paul cause it probably weight more than your girl. She needs to be confortable with the neck, so I would worry about that. string height can be adjusted, so ease of playing vs. harder instrument can be misleading sometimes.
I would get a used guitar for sure. Better priced for better guitars. Pickups make a difference in sound so if maybe figure out what kind of sound she wants. Generally single coil has drier/metalic/light sound that is noted on Fender Telecaster. Techinically humbucking (humbucker) pickups have 2 singles to eliminate "hum", but it's sound character is deeper/heavier sound that is noted on Gibson Les Paul.
More pickup you have on your guitar, more selections you can make.
There are guitars that has locking bridge/floating bridge for treble, which might be cool for her to play with. (and if you don't use it, you can remove that treble bar.)
Amps. Small guitar amps do a lot more than small bass amp so small practice amp for her is sufficient. These can very with kind of speakers in it, power ratings, but like I said, small wattage guitar amp can be very loud, so don't get macho and get the biggest ratings.
More than the amp (since it will be a practice amp), you might want to look into "effects" there are box type (stomp to engage) and component type. (some times that comes with foot switch). Distortion that you hear on every guitar is coming from these effects. These are cheap, so make sure to get her some.
Good luck.
