I'm not going to dig up another article, because it would lead us into a fruitless discussion about microarchitecture and mathematics (which I don't doubt you are far more knowledgeable in than me :) and away from the issue at hand: Which processor is the fastest in the real world.
Architecture aside, what really matters for the end user is application performance, cost and power use/heat production.
