Uncovered Repair--Advice Wanted

I recently purchased a 'Certified' 2001 9-3 convertible w/10,000 miles. Have only had Saab dealer do maintenance, small repairs. In April, something snapped under the hood , I lost power steering. Towed to a saab dealer. I was present when the mechanic brought a broken serpentine link belt and a torn and dirty rag to me. He said the rag was left under the motor, got tangled in the belt and snapped it. He further said - only a mechanic could have left it there, only a mechanic would have been able to find it. My problem is that the 'selling' dealer has said -- it's not his problem since he only uses red rags. Saab customer service said I had 'no right' to accuse saab of leaving a rag under the hood. I contend that the 100+ point inspection was done by a saab employee -- who either left the rag or should have seen the rag during inspection. My bill was $200. I feel unfairly treated by saab,
Any suggestions??
