-It was purchased August 2004
-Has been in the shop probably 5-6 times for fuse replacements(engine light on), leaky windows, electrical problems,,oil change, etc.
-Can't recall terminology of where the rag found - but mechanic brought out the link belt which had been frayed w/fibers from the accompanying rag. They placed them together in a bag and told me to bring them to my selling dealership.
-Your question sounds cynical-- 'magicallly hiding rag' -- the repairing dealership didn't need to provide that input to me...all they had to say the link belt broke -- not under warranty--please write a check. They actually made a big deal, laughing, and head shaking -- saying "look what the heck we found'. Also made it clear that the matter should be pursued as it was careless and dangerous.

Whenever I try to describe the problem to a saab service person, they look at me like I hid the rag or had an incompetent relative working on the car. Not true --
