Maybe this will make you feel better.... story & lesson Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Mon, 9 May 2005 06:58:38 In Reply to: Uncovered Repair--Advice Wanted, Diane, Sat, 7 May 2005 20:09:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My nextdoor neighbor/ best friend had a similar incident when we were both 16.
We were getting ready to drive to Loon Mtn. NH, about an hour and half, for a Saturday of skiing. He had a 1997 Cavalier Z24 (pretty cool for 16) and we decided to check the fluids before we left, never a bad idea! We were unable to open the reservoir on the PS fluid so he used some pliers, put it in, put the cap back on, said "let's go skiing" and off we went!
We were literally 15 feet up the street when we felt the worst bump and noise imaginable. Pliers... still on top of engine ... had fallen and wedged themselves perfectly between the aspahlt and the bell housing of his tranny, the force of driving pushed them into the gears. We saw ATF fluid all over the ground and I knew what had happened immediately, he was in denial...
Nearly 3 weeks and 1800$ later he had a used tranny in his Cavalier and we both had learned a valuable lesson.
Also:
I once dropped a radiator hose clamp down my T25 turbocharger intake accidently. I was like, I didn't just do that did I...
Good luck
Nicholas
