How can anyone call themselves libertarian yet support the enforcement of "borders" that has always been nothing more than a way for governments to get in the way of normal market activities like capital meeting labor and supply meeting demand. Border was invented for a government mechanism to tax and draft those live within it, and that's been the case ever since. What do you think ultimately define borders? Military! As a libertarian, if I want to hire someone to landscape my yard, shouldn't I be allowed to hire whoever in the whole wide world so long as it makes economic sense for them to render it? Why should some law maker get in the way of my money finding the most cost-effective labor? Except for some implied threat of violence concerning "border" and "illegals"?
The reasons why Mexicans are streaming across the border are two fold:
(1) The governments in the US, Federal, State and Municipal levels, are doing too much to support a high standard of living for the unskilled or otherwise proven unsuccessful in the market place on their own. Government is providing food, medicine, housing and education for the poor in the US; guess what does that do to the poor in Mexico? No different from big cities in the US attract the poor and unemployed from the heartland.
(2) Fiat money system in the world makes the US the source of money making, literally. It's no different from California gold rush in 1849 when gold was money. Today, paper green back is money, and the leading maker of it is the New York Federal Reserve Bank in the US. So we have a gold rush from Mexico to the US, and from US heartland to the big cities where Federal Reserve Banks are located.
