My house is a split with three living levels. The top level (bedrooms) and the middle level (living room, dining room, kitchen) stay quite cool), but the lower level (den, exercise/rec room) don't say as cool. So I run it colder to keep get the lower level cool. When I redo the system (it is 14 years old), I will look into making it a two zone system.
As we are new in the house (eight months), we don't have the window treatments done yet so I know that is hurting me. The windows were redone some years ago, so they are tightly sealed, but not with low-e glass (another project in the years to come). I can feel the heat coming through the windows (nice in the winter though)
