That stinks. Here's something I found-out: Cops sometimes lie.

About a year ago I pulled-out agressively from a red light, accelerated about midway through 2nd gear ('01 SE), then coasted into 3rd, then forth. Second gear in my car bounces off of the rev. limit at around 60 mph. It was dark, there were 4 lanes going each way, speed limit was posted 35mph. In my rear view I noticed some really agressive driving as a car from 2 cars back and one lane to my right tried to force his way around/through the cars in front of him. I was in front of the pack driving in space and going maybe 40-45. About 1/2 mile later the guy finally broke free of traffic and accelerated up to my bumper and turned on the lights of his unmarked car to pull me over.

"Do you know haw fast you were going?", I said yes, probably about 40. His response was "I clocked you at 63" He took my info and went back and sat in his car for about 35 minutes, came back to my car, handed me my info with a little yellow ticket and said "I'm gonna give you a break and only write you up for 58" as if he were doing me a favor.

In Houston they have a thing called deferred adjudication where, at the option of the court, you're given a 6 month driving probabtion for the fee of $85.00--and everything is thrown away (literally) if you don't go before that same court again within that 6 month period--which is funny becasue the reality is that it takes them more than 6 months to even schedule an appearance. I hired a lawyer and fought but in the end it was his word against mine so I took the deferred adjudication offer and paid my $85 YouLiveInHoustonNowGiveMeYourMoney Fee.
