My children are yearning for a pet, the last was a hamster that smelled dreadfully. Also she was miraculously caught within hours after the kids let her roam and she vamoosed into the cracks and nooks of the abode. I wouldnt wish a repeat . Both my my 11y old and myself have allergic asthma, very much to cats, mildly to dogs. A vet I called asserted there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dogbreed ,but rather this is a response rather to the individual animal, even within the same breed We had thought initially of a Bichon frise. The internet also mentioned poodles, wheaton terriers schnauzers and ?Kerry terriers as being non allergenic An alternative i would guess would be to "foster "a dog from the humane society for a few weeks and hope for no reactions Any thoughts perhaps?Should I follow the vet ,s suggestion and not even try?
