Animal hair is not a significant allergen so how much your pets shed has nothing to do with your allergies. A dog's hair can collect other allegens (such as pollen, mold or dust), but the hair itself is inert.
People who are sensative to such things are reacting to the dander (skin flakes), and to a lesser degree, saliva or urine. All dog breeds produce dander, so if your allergy is trully to pet dander, all dogs will produce an alergic reaction (not counting for the placebo effect of poodle owners).
Washing the dog regularly (though not TOO much, which will dry the skin and produce MORE dander), isolating the dog to certain rooms (keep it out of the room where the allergic person sleeps) and extensive use of HEPA filters on all heating/AC systems can be helpful. Also be sure to use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter, and vacuum often. If your house doesn't have ducted heat/AC where filters can be applied, you can get inedividual room air purifiers with HEPA filters that will help (run them for at least 4 or 5 hours each day).
