To get a PWD just because it's hypoallergeric is not a good reason to own one. The PWD is a working breed. They NEED mental stimulation and challenges as well as daily exercise. (a 20 minute walk once a day doesn't cut it.) Proper mental and physical stimulation leads to a happy and rewarding relationship with PWDs.
Many people get a PWD because they are hypoallergic, and that's it. But later find out the dog is out of control. It's not the dog's fault. The owners are to blame. No obedience training (maybe 8 wks of puppy class), no other training to speak of and very little exercise. A PWD in this situation will find ways to entertain itself, which most often are destructive to belongings. And behavior will appear defiant, when in actuality, because the PWD has had no structure, it is just trying to assume leadership of "the pack".
These dogs live to work and please their owners, if you can't committ to daily training and exercise, then the PWD is not a breed worth considering.
