My history:
1993 Volvo 850 GT (sold at 125000)
1995 Volvo 960 (totalled on a deer at 114000)
2000 Volvo S70 (traded in at 45000)
2002 Saab 9-5 Linear (bought new, now at 105000)
2002 Saab 9-3 HOT (bought CPO last year, now at 40000)
The Saabs have been far less expensive to maintain, for more reliable. The Saab seats have it all over the Volvo seats for both comfort and support.
The Saabs use less fuel. The 9-5 has both a more comfortable ride and better handling than the S70. The 9-3 is a barrel of fun to drive, not to mention the wonderful hatchback which is big enough for my bicycle or my cello (but not, alas, both at once). I detailed the 9-5 interior this morning and noted, again, the wonderful quality of materials and workmanship, both of which still look great after almost 4 years and over 100K miles.
