should be attached with the mounting screw for the outlet box faceplate. That should give you a ground, but DO NOT count on it providing a ground just because "it's supposed to." I've seen some pretty scary wiring in my houses (1919 and 1966), so call the owner and see what they can do. It's a simple matter to put in a 3-prong outlet and to use a grounding wire.
