my college girlfriend's dad lived in a house waay out in the sticks, down two miles of one lane dirt road. Her dad's place was the only house on the road so he had to do the plowing. It was something he got around to, eventually.
I was there one weekend but had to leave early one morning after a bumper-high dump of light dry pow. So out I go, hoping I could keep my '70 bug out of the ditch on each side of the road. The snow was flowing up over my headlights as I drove out at about 25 to 30, making fresh tracks all the way out.
Then another time there was the puddle. I had no idea how deep it was when I went in, but the water was breaking off the tops of the headlights. I was surprised it just didn't stall or just lift off and float, but it made it through, about 75 feet. That one was in my '68.
They were amazing cars. Nothing like them anymore.
