I've heard pretty much only good things about the Odyssey, and you folks have only added to that. I'm kind of surprised that no one mentioned the Grassroots Motorsports comparison between an Odyssey and a brace of circa 1970 sports cars (the Odyssey won most if not all the performance tests).
We just got back from a week in the L.A. area with a rented Chevy Outlander or whatever their 7-pass. van is, and while we enjoyed the space and convenience of front pass. being able to step into the back, we were underwhelmed by the uncomfortable seats, fussy sliding doors, loud wind noise and poor mileage (<22 in mostly open highway driving). Oh, the one we had was equipped with captains chairs in the second row, which, with car seats in each, made entry from the side with the rear-facing seat impossible and entry from the front-facing side difficult.
I really liked the idea of the Mazda5 as a non-bloated tall wagon, but alas, it seems like the third row would be inaccessable with car seats in the second row.
thanks,
Mike
