I doubt that you are at risk, but this is just an uninformed guess.
CFL's that are equivalent to a 100W incandescent bulb consume about 23 watts or about .2A. Timers are marked on the back (commonly) regarding their voltage and amperage rating. I would expect to see a voltage rating of at least 117 VAC, and a current rating of at least 7A, perhaps as high as 15A.
To calculate the actual current passing through your timer for your application use the following formula.
Current used = Wattage consumed by CFL/117VAC.
Interestingly, older timers work just fine with CFL's. The reason is that they use mechanical clocks operated by the line voltage...and are not dependent on current flow through the bulb. At the preset time they turn the lights off or on.
