Some people believe scientific or engineering models when it comes to crashworthiness of a car or the trajectory of a missile, but when it comes to global weather modeling, they don't believe it. It is the best we have, but one thing is clear. We don't have a spare earth to experiment with. Neither side can prove the other to conclusively right or wrong. If we screw up the one habitable planet we have, we're in trouble. To the naysayers, why risk it?
I was talking to a much older wealthy owner of a farming operation who said he wanted to shoot all the environmentalists. I told him I was one and we got into a semi-respectful argument. He said the government should regulate safety, but it had no place making environmental regulations. I thought that was an interesting and stupid argument since pollution can cause asthma and other afflictions. Safety is tied to health is tied to the environment. Cleaner is better. Using less is better.
