will convince the 'powers that be' to convert our foods(grains) to ethanol. Now we all know that most ethanol is made in the USA is from corn, and to grow this corn requires Nitrogen fertilizer(is oil used here?). We then have to build new plants to produce this new wonder fuel. Once the fuel is made, how to get it to market? You can't use existing petro-pipes, so it must be transported by truck(more oil).
By the time we use ethonol as a major componant for transportation, we have lost twice.
First-By the sudden rush to save the Planet by converting our major food sources to fuel will only drive the prices of food and fuel through the roof. Ethonol as a net energy loss.
Second- As more farm-land is converted to corn production, less is left for other important grains. So again the price goes up, and we(the USA) have less to sell or give to the rest of the World.
So do we burn our food for fuel?
Should half the World starve while failed polititions, aging rock stars and fund-hungry scientists cram their new 'Religion' down our throats?
I think our energies are best directed to more pressing issues.
