I've been critical of Saab. My first and only one was a 2000 Monte Carlo 9-3 Viggen (for sale). Loved the car, and still do. It's not really great at any one thing, but it does everything very well. It was my wagon, my family hauler, my track car, highway cruiser, snow car, etc. It had it all, but still needed a bit more to be perfect. The newer 9-3's aren't bad.. they improved on some areas, but cheapened others.
I gave up waiting for a replacement halo car from Saab. Turbo-X isn't it (it's more of a special edition car like the Gary Fisher's). I'm also critical of the new engines, finishes, and noticable short cuts taken. They aren't bad at all, but they aren't emotional cars like the Viggen was.

Also, over time dealing with Saab, the service department went downhill drastically. When new, I got Saab loaners, washed & vacuumed, and had a service tech sit down and go throughly with me every they did, and things they noticed that I may want to watch out for. They replaced stuff like badges that peeled, clip covers that fell off, etc. and would go out of their way to make it a personal relationship. By the time I was done, I was a number waiting in line with the Chevy guys at a counter to pay. No loaners, no wash, nothing. Saabusa even denied a warranty claim on broken motor mount welds 2 days after the warranty expired. Saab became GM in how they dealt with their customers.. There was no longer a relationship there to keep me in the family.
