How to save GM?

I'm not sure we can. I'm especially doubtful that gov't intervention will help. By the time Pelosi and Harry Reid finish dictating the styling, size fuel alternatives and whatever else they have on their agenda, it's doubtful to me that a rescued GM will be able to sell anything.
GM isn't in this predicament because of their performance during the seventies. It was inevitable that the big three would someday have to compete sales against foreign brands. They've had 30 years to get over that and so have the unions. But the legacy of the UAW has been an anchor around their neck. Imagine trying to swim race dragging one. Well, that's pretty much sums up what GM's had to do. And now that the golden goose is going under, we want to save them so we can continue to count on them for jobs & tax revenue.
