Executives tend to blame factory workers for the union negotiated higher costs. It is true the imports are paying less, but if GM made compelling product it would never have gotten to this situation. GM executives have run the company into the ground, not the factory workers who make what they are told to make. The UAW should have been running a media campaign for years against the executives not for pay issues, but for endangering the companies and the country.
German auto workers are well paid. The US needs well paid workers so they can afford to buy the crap the companies make. The executives need to focus on adding value and not cutting labor. In time, labor and product will balance out.
