Your plan is ideal, if everything goes as planned...
How about the unexpected snowfall in the fall while your summers are still on? Or the long warm spell (if you get those) in between snow falls?
I use a "summer oriented" (Ecsta ASX) all-season in the summer, and a "winter oriented" (Nokian WR) all-season in the winter. That way I'm OK during the overlap times. And we get real winter here (below freezing to about -30 C for about 4 months of the year).
The ASX were surprisingly good this fall during an early snow/freezing rain system that went through just as I was moving houses, with no time/access to get my winter tires on...
The WRs are so good in snow, ice, etc that they make a fine dedicated snow tire - AND they are good enough in summer (low wear, quiet, good ride, etc) that for non-high-performance driving they would be perfectly fine all year round. If you can have only one set of tires, these are the ones...
