Do I dump it, or pump more $$ in to it?

I purchased my '01 9-3 w/64k miles in June of this year. It was a one owner car, meticulously maintained with records for proof. Right before I bought it, the p.o. replaced the water pump, catalytic converter, and various other little parts. Since I bought it, I've tried to track down a shimmy in the front end at 62mph and replaced the starter after a sudden failure.
I brought it to Andrews of Princeton to check out a noisy fuel pump (sounds like a boat's bilge pump), they tell me it needs a new alternator, idler pulley, and battery all for $900+. This does not address the noisy, failing?, fuel pump or the worn out struts/shocks.
I've already put a lot of $ into this car and am afraid that if I spend the dough on the alternator that I will have to put another $1k into the fuel pump before too long.
So, should I cut my losses? Or, pump more money into this thing and hope for good luck?
BTW, my NG900 needed nothing more than a new ball joint and front brakes between 64k and 137k miles. I am so furious at this car that I hope it gets hit by a bus and dies.
