Whenever I hear people with these long tales of woe they all seem to follow a similar pattern. You never mention any symptoms, it's always "my mechanic said I needed this." I hate to break the news but sometimes mechanics lie. From the list of things replaced on this car it sounds like you and the previous owner have been getting hosed. On my '98 NG I still have the original cat, water pump, fuel pump and struts at 146,000. With 46K you shouldn't have had to do any of this stuff. You need to find a good, honest independant Saab mechanic--I'm sure someone on this board can assist you. The noisey fuel pump could be as simple as a bad fuel filter. The shimmy in front could be an out of balance tire or a bent rim--try switching tires.
