So I just got off the phone with them. They tell me now that the shocks are fine, though they reported them leaking at the 70k mile service. They say the noise is not coming from the fuel pump, but rather a bad bearing in the alternator. The alternator is charging, but the battery is weak. The charging system tested far above the minimums at the 70k mile service, but that was 5k miles ago. I know the fuel pump is noisy, When I lift up the back seat it gets louder and when I open the access cover louder still.
More to the story...
On the phone I mention that my car is sometimes hard to get into reverse and am wondering if the transmission mount is getting bad. I was told that the tranny syncros are probably getting weak and the I may be looking at a transmission replacement in the near future.
Something doesn't feel right here. Do they think they have my number and are trying to scare me away with all this? It's almost as if they want me to dump my car and walk away.
Car is currently at Andrews of Princeton. I brought it there for an oil change and a check up. It has been running fine, but has the aforementioned fuel pump noise and lately the lights would slightly dim when I rev the car.
What should I do?
'01 9-3s 75k miles, perfectly and proactively maintained.
