Hey guys,
I was lurking and saw that discussion on the licensing. Not that our manufacturing base in Ontario isn't getting kicked too, but we are about to start massive nuclear building programmes, and we don't have the brains at the upper and middle engineering levels, which means opportunities.
I think it is pretty easy for a Michigan engineer to receive accreditation in Ontario by PEO, and vice versa.
On another note, cross-Canada there is a new provincial agreement in place to remove barriers for acceptance of licences. Quebec now has an agreement with France to recognize credentials of persons trained and licensed in France's schools and in Quebec's engineering schools.
Why is this neat? You can get a licence in Quebec if you have one in Ontario, provided you can pass the French fluency testof Office de la langue francaise... and then work for an employer in France, which means the EU. It opens up a whole world of possibilities!
I have mine in Ontario and Quebec. Not that I am moving, though... if I were younger, and my former supervisors weren't in their early nineties, it would be exciting.
And finally, I heard a speech the other day, in which one of the largest Canadian construction company presidents revealed that Microsoft is about to enter the construction management business. Aim that way... if you are Civil.
