I've rented some decent cars over the past couple years. Ride and handling have been good and even the seats haven't been too bad. No they aren't the same as my 9K or as nice on a 13 hour trip as my wife's 9-5 SportWagon, but they still do the job well.
I have to admit that I think about to get as my fleet of Saabs ages, my kids live in places where I can't do the wrenching on their Saabs or I become less inclined to spend time keeping them all running. I'll have a Saab or two for a long time yet, but there *are* other choices out there that can be pretty appealing. And if the handling isn't all I'd like rims, tires, good shocks, and sway bars make a big difference.
Just as they have, ahem, in my Saab 9K.
