It's still unclear whether the car can be placed in neutral at speed. Although Toyota advises that the car be slowed, it does not state that it _has_ to be slowed for neutral to be engaged. It would be interesting to see if there is some sort of cut-out speed where neutral can no longer be activated. Because of these very situations, I just can't imagine a manufacturer limiting that sort of activity. Next time I rent a Toyota I may have to do a little experiment and see if neutral can be engaged at speed.
I do agree that three seconds is far too long to hold down the start/stop button before the car turns off.
